Addressing the problem early will create a better classroom environment and experience for everyone. A Fix-It Ticket allows for quick communication addressing the issue to the student, core teacher, and parents. Track the tickets on a spreadsheet to give you data and a record.

Fix-It Ticket

The teacher fills out the top of the Fix-It Ticket including: the student’s name, date, behavior, and checking the box associated with the core classroom rule that is being challenged. The student fills out the two questions: why does this behavior need fixing and how can it be fixed. The art teacher hands off the ticket to the core teacher allowing for a 3-way discussion (art teacher, core teacher, and student to happen). The parents are kept in the loop by signing. Download Fix-It Tickets here.

Explain Fix-It Tickets to the Students

While teaching and setting classroom expectations, explain the Fix-It Tickets to the students. It should not be a surprise to them when they receive one. Give reminders during class as needed and address behavior disruptions as soon as possible.

Printing Fix-It Tickets

Although the painter’s pallet is in color, print black and white on colored paper. Cut the paper at 5.5 inches, or in half.

How do you address behavior issues that are resolved with a reminder and positive encouragement?
