Purpose and Benefits of using a Warm-up
This book aims to familiarize students with the vast world of art – specifically ancient art. There are a variety of responses, from sketching to writing, to promote creativity during class time. Each prompt should take five minutes or less. Starting each class with a warm-up routine provides a promt start to each class, enhances student’s art knowlege and enhances students’ creativity for the remaining class time.
Does a daily warm-up work?
Does it work? I’ve been using warm-ups for over seven years with 6-8th grade students. The Ancient Art Warm-Up Book and PowerPoints are age-appropriate for 6-12th grade and adults who want to learn more about Ancient Art. This book was created to help the flow of each class by starting with learning the moment students enter the classroom. Using a warm-up has changed chaos and wasted time into learning and order. Where students used to enter the room asking, “What are we doing today?” to an opportunity to explore the fantastic history of art. References to sites where information was collected can be found as a note at the bottom of each slide. Additional notes can be found there as well as needed. Student responses connect with each prompt but can be altered per your jurisdiction.
